Motherhood

After marriage the number one question is always.. so when are you having kids?” and my response to this was always “5 years”. If I’m being honest though, I saw myself having babies in my 30s, once I’d ‘achieved’ what I wanted to achieve and built myself up to have that perfect house, stable finances and everything else that makes it ‘the right time’ to have a baby.

Turns out there is no perfect time to have a baby, but at 22 and newly married it almost seemed even less of a perfect time. It caught me by surprise and if I’m honest, I still live with the what ifs every day.

Now when people ask me what made me start a family so young and so early into my marriage, the answer is always, “actually, my son decided to start our family” – I guess you have to laugh at how unpredictable life is. Being a mother though, is my greatest joy, my most important role and the highest honour.
